Looking to have a more grand Thanksgiving this year? Here are some keys to maximize your holiday experience! First off you would need to eat more, extend your family and of course, be thankful! This can get done in just one week! Here’s how!
Make room for the Thanksgiving Tower!
This is 10 times more than your typical Thanksgiving dessert! With this tower, you will get to enjoy your favorite classic: pumpkin pie….along an unbelievable variety the best desserts ever created! Check out this video! You will get brownies, cheesecake, cake pops, bread pudding, macaroons and much more! Plus this is shareable for friends, families, co-workers and groups! It’s going to be hard to make room for dessert this year! Proceeds from this Compass Café Purchase will go to providing clean water and rescuing victims of human trafficking!
Come spent time with the Hope family! They will love you and make you feel welcome as soon as you step inside! Church is the perfect place to be thankful and express that gratitude to God. The one who gave us everything we have. After service, come enjoy HopeNYC’s Thanksgiving feast! There will be plenty of food and friends which makes it a great pre-celebration to the big day!
SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE!
Text a friend or get a fancy card from dollar tree wishing them a Happy Thanksgiving! Maybe a new friend you met on Big Sunday. It’s also fun to share your experience by taking photos of your thanksgiving tower and your day!
After this is all over, be on the lookout for HopeNYC’s Christmas Parade on Rockaway Blvd! This will be on Sunday December 3rd at 5pm! A great way to kick off your Christmas celebration!
New Yorkers are warming up as temperatures are dropping! Ridding their closets of rompers and casting aside cold shoulder tops to make room for tunics and snug sweaters!
Coffee, hot chocolate and teas are ideal ways to warm up this season! Compass Cafe’ has all those things including the #1 solution: SOUP!
Soups at Compass are ultra-delicious, hearty, made from scratch and served in adorable crock bowls on a knitted coaster (If you plan to stay)
Sadly, the soups are only here for a limited time but what’s exciting is that there is a different one every day served with bread on the side made from scratch by Jodi Bakes! One day it can be loaded baked potato soup served with buttermilk bread or a chicken taco soup with cornbread. There’s other exiting soups like pinto beans with smoke turkey, pasta fagoili, ham and potato chowder and more! If you have $5 in your pocket and want to warm up quickly with something satisfying and balanced, all you have you to do is come into Compass to find out: What’s the soup of the day?
Compass Cafe is located on 142-82 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica NY 11436

Sips of Hope celebrates a special birthday! Two years of making a way of freedom for precious girls enslaved by human trafficking! Two years of providing clean drinking water to quench the thirst in several countries! Two years of serving good quality coffee and pastries to New Yorkers and providing a tranquil area in a busy city.
Today Compass Café celebrated the BIG 2 by baking over 200 cupcakes!
Giving 200 presents in sealed envelopes!
Putting out the balloons
What made today even special was that we got to MEET THE FOUNDER of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace! Today, we got to hear about her incredible story of how it started and the vision she received from God.
I’m excited to come back to Compass this week and bring back my envelope! Each envelope has a gift. It can be a macchiato or an Amazon Firestick. A $100 Compass gift card or Thanksgiving dessert platter! Even the thought of a moyen hot chocolate or free cookie excites me! I didn’t open my gift yet but I’ll keep you posted when I find out this week!
This weekend, you are invited to one of the greatest birthday celebrations in New York! This Sunday is not going to be ordinary. Compass Coffee turns two years old and this birthday has been incredibly and carefully planned.
Compass is a Missions coffee shop that was created to help people in other countries get clean drinking water and rescue girls out of human trafficking through its partnership with The Zion project!
We will hear from the actual founder of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace. We will see her live and she will be preaching THIS Sunday at 10:30am at HopeNYC. Right after service, Compass will actually be giving you presents 🎁 as we celebrate this birthday! There will ALSO be special surprises for people who purchase a cup of coffee, dessert or item that day!
The fact that Pastor Deven will be at HopeNYC on Compass’ Birthday is not a coincidence or luck but this was indeed a divine appointment set up by God. In fact, Compass is a divine idea founded to help others and it will continue it’s mission even stronger as it steps into it’s second year! Read more about the MISSION here
The oatmeal cream pie tonight was delish & FREE! It was crunchy creamy & compact! Not to mention the rich great-tasting center that’s totally Jodi Bakes! Compass Coffee had just celebrated it’s first birthday! The streets were lined with excited party guests ready for the celebration. I could tell it was going to be huge! All of the party guests received gifts for this birthday! Free coffee, birthday buttons, T-shirts and special elegant cookies made specifically for the occasion by House of Fray!
There were also things that added to excitement such as a live DJ, balloons, my raffle ticket # possibly being called, seeing what the new Jodi Bakes thanksgiving dessert tray looks like and being one of the first 50 people on line to get a discount card.
As we finally went in, each person received their discount card and free T-shirt then started ordering. I saw fresh desserts, shelves filled with candy, and a very happy welcoming staff that lined up to greet everyone at the door. Friends were sitting down enjoying conversations in and out of the cafe as the music played. A few of them were even dancing. The orders varied from coffee to croissants, to tea, to eclairs, to soup, to sandwiches and waffles. Everything everyone had looked absolutely appetizing!
We didn’t keep the fun all to ourselves. Those who walked or drove by got invited somehow by someone. The baristas served coffee and pumpkin bars to pedestrians waiting at the bus stop and firefighters at the station. It was an amazing and memorable birthday.
Whats your favorite chowder? I discovered mine today!
I’m estatic about this fall season. The breeze, silent streets, pumpkin spice, and the new warm soups and chowders at Compass cafe! Jodi Bakes has made phenomenal desserts but her soups has already made a huge impression!
Many of the Compass customers, baristas, HopeNYC attendees including myself all enjoy the soups and have only good things to say. Not only are we satisfied, we are eager to know what tomorrow’s soup of the day will be.
Today’s was ham and potato chowder. It was so good that I ran away refusing to give a gulp of this chowder to my husband that kindly asked to try it. It was a beautiful thick white creamy chowder with vibrant specks of color from the minced vegetables inside. There were also generous chunks of potato and ham. It was a nice heavy filling satisfying soup. The taste was incredible and packed with flavor. I say come to Compass Cafe for their delicious well-known coffee but grabbing a soup this fall is a must! If you choose to stay, they will serve it you in an adorable burgandy soup crock with a handle.
