“I brought you back 5 wings ”
It was one of the most glorious statements you could ever hear from a husband after a long day of errands and no dinner. He had just returned from a Hope Group called The Head of The Household. They discuss their important roles as a husband and the real stuff about marriages with a new restaurant being their classroom each time. Men can benefit from a group like this!
Dallas BBQ is of course the place of the sticky wings and it has been a favorite spot for Hopers maybe….for about 10 years now! We’ve enjoyed youth Christmas parties, ministry meetings, Hope Group fun days, ladies day out, men’s night out and just plain hanging out! You learn and grow so much from just attending HopeNYC; The services, taking a Hope group class, and especially on an outing over a plate of sticky wings!
On an upcoming post I’ll share alittle more about how the Hope groups semester went and how you can grow if you would like to take a class in the future!

What You Need To Know!
What is a Sock Hop?
A Sock Hop was a dance event held for teenagers where they danced in their socks to avoid scratching the wooden gym floor with their shoes.
What dances were popular?
What did they wear?
This familiar Disney channel throwback shows some attire in this 50s themed episode- –https://youtu.be/3AcGjhjwnfc
Notice the high waist, belt, knee length, bottoms and short sleeves top
Sunglasses, stud earrings and tie-on head pieces seemed to be the thing! They sure did wear HATS
Men wore jackets 🧥
ust a few of the many facts about the 50s! TODAY, HopeNYC’s Dance Ministry is accomplishing so much and I hope many of you will support the Sock Hop! Kids are learning how to dance every Friday and worship deeper! Men, women, adults and children are
dancing every Sunday and creating an atmosphere of worship at the front of the altar during service.

This man would die just to be with you. He has your best interest at heart and wants to see you happy. He is showing up so you can have life and have it more abundantly. You can’t hide your feelings from Him because He is all-knowing and He understands that you too also want to spend some time with Him. In fact you feel desperate in your soul for Him with a true honest desire for just a moment with Him. You truly know that He loves you for you are. Even your worst didn’t change His mind. You know the romance on this date far outweighs the love of a family member, spouse, and partner in courtship. This my friends, can only seem to be a date with Jesus.
We all need to steal away and spend some time with Him in prayer. 20 somethings! You get to spend ONE SPECIAL EVENING to focus on His love. The night is called: It’s a date! I was rushing out of the house getting ready for a fantastic Sunday service at HopeNYC. Time was ticking & there was still quite a few things to do in the short remaining 15 minutes I had left. I definitely couldn’t get it all done if making breakfast was one of them.
Did I skip breakfast just to get to church in time?
No! Because the church had the breakfast!
The Compass Café part of the building to be exact! They were serving up an excellent Trini breakfast that rescued my appetite! It tasted great & I was surely satisfied. Only a simple $5 gets you the breakfast and goes back into Compass’ mission: to provide clean drinking water to impoverished countries and help rescue victims of human trafficking. My breakfast this morning went towards helping someone and there’s nothing more filling than that.
In the weeks to come they will be serving all kinds of breakfasts on Sunday morning inspired by different places. (I personally can’t wait for Tex Mex and southern breakfast)
Today’s breakfast was two bakes, fried aloo ( potato) and corn beef.
