Sips of Hope celebrates a special birthday! Two years of making a way of freedom for precious girls enslaved by human trafficking! Two years of providing clean drinking water to quench the thirst in several countries! Two years of serving good quality coffee and pastries to New Yorkers and providing a tranquil area in a busy city.
Today Compass Café celebrated the BIG 2 by baking over 200 cupcakes!
Giving 200 presents in sealed envelopes!
Putting out the balloons
What made today even special was that we got to MEET THE FOUNDER of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace! Today, we got to hear about her incredible story of how it started and the vision she received from God.
I’m excited to come back to Compass this week and bring back my envelope! Each envelope has a gift. It can be a macchiato or an Amazon Firestick. A $100 Compass gift card or Thanksgiving dessert platter! Even the thought of a moyen hot chocolate or free cookie excites me! I didn’t open my gift yet but I’ll keep you posted when I find out this week!
This weekend, you are invited to one of the greatest birthday celebrations in New York! This Sunday is not going to be ordinary. Compass Coffee turns two years old and this birthday has been incredibly and carefully planned.
Compass is a Missions coffee shop that was created to help people in other countries get clean drinking water and rescue girls out of human trafficking through its partnership with The Zion project!
We will hear from the actual founder of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace. We will see her live and she will be preaching THIS Sunday at 10:30am at HopeNYC. Right after service, Compass will actually be giving you presents 🎁 as we celebrate this birthday! There will ALSO be special surprises for people who purchase a cup of coffee, dessert or item that day!
The fact that Pastor Deven will be at HopeNYC on Compass’ Birthday is not a coincidence or luck but this was indeed a divine appointment set up by God. In fact, Compass is a divine idea founded to help others and it will continue it’s mission even stronger as it steps into it’s second year! Read more about the MISSION here
Last Sunday I got to hold this miracle! Her mom was diagnosed with a rare form of head and neck cancer and had battled this for about two years! This even stopped her from consuming solid foods. Today she is recovering with word from the doctor that she’s healed! Last Sunday her beautiful daughter was dedicated to the Lord at HopeNYC Church where many prayed and fasted for her healing. She gives Jesus all the honor for saving her life and making it possible for the couple to have a baby.
The party isn’t over! The celebration of freedom still continues with patriotic colors and a cake to cut. The Freedom Cake is back at Compass! Fans had happily reunited with the cake this weekend. Just like last year, it’s going fast! Many are in love with the cake because of it’s eye-catching trio of colors on the surface and in the slices. WE are also fond of the delicious fresh homemade vanilla taste. You may find yourself back at the job today but you can continue celebrating with a satisfying slice! It tastes like a celebration any day after July 4th🎉
TONS of food, good music, dogs, dancing, games and the most awesome view of fireworks from the neighborhood at night. I can definitely say my fourth of July was well spent! As I walked in helping Jay deliver a large tray of chicken empanadas, we saw tables lined up with endless entrees! Pork chops, BBQ Chicken, homemade bread, pelau, turkey burgers, grilled fish, chicharon, macaroni pie, and much more! I saw people playing twister, table tennis, ludo, poker and volleyball. I sat with a group for a monopoly game. It didn’t go so well for me…I went to jail three times and had to pay somebody’s rent for almost every turn. I did come into plenty of money but it was hard to purchase properties that wasn’t already taken during my arrest. Overall I had fun loosing with good (competitive) friends. Speaking of that, two adorable friends joined us for the picnic.
Later on, we danced the night away in the church parking lot celebrating freedom!
‘Twas the perfect Christmas night filled with joy, excitement, music and lights! Rockaway blvd was alive and filled with joy as HopeNYC kicked off the Christmas season! HopeNYC’s annual light Parade has awakened the neighborhood and grabbed the attention of thousands! After long days and nights of carving styrofoam, painting, glittering, motorizing moving parts etc, the finished floats strolled out spectacularly stunning the streets with it’s beauty from God’s glory. Each float revealed something significant and special about the king of kings! Even the very story books we read for Christmas came to life and told something glorious about His Story which is History!
The floats later made their way home to HopeNYC Church and the crowd eagerly followed! Then finally in plain sight appeared the largest Christmas tree Queens had ever seen! Thousands of bright vibrant dazzling lights. The finale began with hot chocolate and cookies galore that tasted just right. Right after, the celebration was followed by a sparkling performance by the Hope Dancers! The night officially ended as Caribbean gospel artist Eddie Neblett sang us out after singing songs all night from his Christmas album: The Birth of Savior (On iTunes) People got to take photos with the float characters and dancers after the tree lighting. Family and friends also gathered for photos by the Hope Tree! We also could not miss the opportunity to take photos with Santa!
To see some phone footage, photos, live videos, posts and more from the parade just go on Facebook or Instagram and search for #HopeParade2016. Also LIKE HopeNYC on Facebook if you haven’t yet so you can catch the upcoming fun Christmas events and the Christmas and New Years service!
God’s timing is always right! God is always on time!
Our timing is different than God’s timing!
Well for these three lucky couples, it was time! They were all in love and in it for the long run but as they courted, they kept their eyes on Jesus. The time was totally up to Him. With no long amounts of preparation and a 12 month period to plan an elaborate exquisite wedding, these couples were unaware that 2015 would the year! This year, HopeNYC has celebrated 3 weddings back to back for 3 months! October, November and December of 2015. This was amazing, and it was not planned to be this way. God was doing something & guess what? I was one of the brides! I never thought I would walk out of 2015 married. If any of these couples can sum this up they wold be most likely to say Trust God’s timing!
He will give you the right person. If you desire to be married it will happen for you at the right time if you trust Him.
Mother’s Day came back around & HopeNYC was ready.
Our mission: To make sure no mother beneath the HopeNYC roof leave the premises unchanged, under-appeciated and empty-handed. There is only one person who’s up for the challenge and that’s Jesus!
At Hope we say something very special:
We are the hands & feet but God is the face. In fact, that is a very famous hashtag we hopers use so often; #GodIsTheFace
Every mom that walked through the door recieved a jumbo chocolate heart on a stick and beautiful button that says I’m a Hope Mom. They were also treated to a big breakfast. The children’s ministry had a beautiful dance prepared.
The teenagers performed a skit where one brave christian girl in school stands up to her peers & proudly states that her mother is her best friend. She leads by example & encourages her friends to celebrate mother’s day with their mothers. Not the boyfriend, not the gang of kids at the pizza shop, not with the Xbox and not at the nail salon. They go to church and their moms feel loved because of the atmosphere Jesus created for them. The breakfast, the spoken word the “pretend church service”… This girl brought the families together.
Our fabulous Men’s Chior!

An update on HopeNYC
HopeNYC, How has it been? These past couple of weeks has been so far some of the most amazing ever! Just being filled up with the word on Wenesdays. Being full of fire & enery with the teens on Friday. Seeing the colors of dancers & the finely dressed people worshipping on a Sunday. I am just so glad to be apart of this church & know the friends I met there. Sometimes living life isn’t easy …. even being a christian & striving to follow our perfect Lord & savior gets real challeging at times too but going to HopeNYC to grow, worship, learn, pray, work, praise, testify love, fellowship… It really lightens the LOAD & helps me more to trust God to remove it, break me through it & make it all better. Many have testified that they have needed hope & they found it at HopeNYC. If any of you bloggers get to visit New York City, I urge you to visit at least one services. I visited the Famous Statue of Liberty, Toys R us & been to Time Square so many times but they all can’t compare to ONE visit at HopeNYC Church. You won’t be a stranger at all because you will surely feel at home.
This a testimony video of Travis Freeman. He is currently a new believer & he already has so much to say…simply because God has done so much already. Travis has been set free from depression & alcoholism. God has also delivered him from the ER by completely healing his physical body. He attended HopeNYC during our yearly tent revival services. Travis is such a good friend of mines & he is loved by the Hope family. I see him every time I go to church & he is filled with God’s joy.
