Find a Good Father

“There are good fathers at Hope! ”

I remember sitting down hearing that yesterday at HopeNYC’s Father’s Day service and I agree! But I must mention that they learned from the best ūüĎÜūüŹĹ In fact all of us do! At HopeNYC, your problem is our problem and your victories and achievements¬†is our celebration! Over the years of attending, I see that the men of God here look out for their church family. Always aiming to encourage, give, teach and intercede in prayer for other sons and daughters. Yesterday, many celebrated their fathers, relatives and father figures and highly exalted their Heavenly Father. The one responsible for all good fathers. There were gifts, testimonies, dances, and more! It was such a good time! Many Hope Kidz spoke out in a video how they felt about their dads. WARNING ‚ö†ÔłŹ some are cute and some are funny!

After Service Snack

The oatmeal cream pie tonight was delish & FREE! It was crunchy creamy & compact! Not to mention the rich great-tasting center that’s totally Jodi Bakes! I wish I can have it for breakfast tomorrow morning! After today’s life-changing Hope-Day service, it certainly made the perfect after-service snack!

Mom’s Crowning Moment

I love watching this video! Kids from HopeNYC describe their moms and wish them an early Happy Mother’s Day! Most of these parents attended yesterday’s dance where this video was first viewed. Hopers! Find your child or yourself or just hear all of them!

The dance was such a beautiful experience! Proceeds went towards HopeNYC’s International Missions Ministry who partnered with the ZionProject to help rescue sex trafficking victims. Some girls get trapped into it while some are sold by their own parents in an effort to provide for the other siblings in the family. Mothers were honored and treated like royalty last night at HopeNYC while giving towards the cause. Wildfire; the teen ministry of the church made the night into an elegant experience executing beautiful hospitality. Gentlemen escorted the mothers upstairs to their table. The girls attended to the needs of the guest and served the three course meal with the gentlemen joining in. There were gifts for every lady in the room; mom or not. There were special awards for our beautiful pastor, the lady crowned for mother of the year and gentleman of the night. There was also a crowning for best dressed. Entertainment was smooth! Reggae was performed live by Art Crawford and Eddie Neblett with DJ Mark Xclusive. The night could not have ended until the well-known reggae song: She’s Royal was played. It was all a wonderful night filled with entertainment, raffles, decorations, great food, exquisite gowns, dancing, relaxation, appreciation,  love, photos…. check out the pictures! Also stay tuned on the HopeNYC website and Facebook for their upcoming Mother’s day service!

3 Days to Celebrate!

What are you doing next week? One of the most significant days to ever happen just to honor The Savior Jesus, The Word at beginning and one who sacrificed His Life to save the world ūüĆé If there are no plans, I encourage you visit HopeNYC for an amazing Good Friday service: NEXT WEEK April 14th 6pm. Visit the HopeNYC website for information, directions, weekly services and additional upcoming events.

This Good Friday service will have an amazing Word for you. There’s worship in music, the holy communion, gifts for first time guests and washing of the saints feet (amazing yet optional) The opportunity to do what Jesus did when He washed the foot of His disciple. Just look around, pick someone in the room or a friend. Towels and buckets will be provided.

Bright and early on Saturday morning! It’s time to have fun at HopeNYC’s 9th annual Easter egg hunt! Everyone’s invited to spend a sunny morning with us at Baisely park while kids ages 1-9 explore with their easter baskets hunting around 10,000 colored candy-filled eggs. Finding a gold or silver egg gives them an amazing opportunity to win a bicycle or scooter along with some other fantastic prizes. Going home with dozens of eggs filled with candy is good enough for me ūüėÄ The best part is, Admission is free!

The Priest, Pilate’s wife, and Peter! What went on in their minds after witnessing the most horrific mind-blowing scene in all humanity. Come see their view of the situation in a production where the story begins right at the start of service at 8am. Too early for you? Catch the 11am service! This broadway style yet Holy Spirit annointed production is filled with a life-changing message, dance, and an atmosphere that will take you back to the past where it all happened. If you are in New York make your way to Rockaway blvd for an exciting Easter service.

A Quick Trip To Paris

Okay so I actually didn’t go to Paris but I stepped out of New York! I did not¬†catch a flight or lug a¬†tote. Here at¬†Compass Cafe, you set foot in another country! Come in and enjoy a sip of something from¬†overseas.

Where will you go today?

Paris? The place where you can get coffee pressed to perfection? Not to mention neon macaroons bursting with color.

Guatemala? A sip of something Spanish while being allured by its amazing aroma.

Haiti? Enjoy an aromatic earthy blend and get some energy from the Petite Goave coffee. A six year old girl from this country sparked the idea of Compass Cafe a few years ago.

Compass Bath Salts

There’s vanilla, coconut and peppermint, smells delicious but¬†its not edible!

Compass Cafe has beautifully bottled bath salts bundled with benefits. The escaping fragrance you sniff is just enough to be sold and go home to a pampering. We often think the salts are simply for a good scent but it can:

  • Relax muscles and loosen stiff joints
  • Improve your mood
  • Detoxify the body
  • Treat sore muscles
  • Relieve Inflammation
  • Make an excellent foot soak
  • Eliminate oders
  • Deep clean skin (Removes pollution, oil and dirt. Exfoliates dead skin and dislodge blackheads)

After taking your usual shower, this is good to scrub, sit in, soak your feet or cleanse your face with warm water. I think these will make a fantastic and functional gift for a friend or family. These were created specially for you at Compass Cafe.

Compass Cafe is on a mission! Proceeds from this shop goes towards providing clean drinking water to impoverished countries and partners with the Zion Project to help end human trafficking! For more information visit www.HopeNYC.com and www.ZionProject.org  If you enjoyed these blogs/vlogs, like, share, spread the word and support the mission. Compass aims to make the world a safer one cup at a time.

Happy Birthday Compass

Compass Coffee had just celebrated it’s first birthday! The streets were lined with excited¬†party guests ready for the celebration. I could tell it was going to be huge! All of the party guests received gifts for this¬†birthday! Free coffee, birthday buttons, T-shirts and special elegant cookies made specifically for the occasion by House of Fray!

There were also things that added to excitement such as a live DJ, balloons, my raffle ticket # possibly being called, seeing what the new Jodi Bakes thanksgiving dessert tray looks like and being one of the first 50 people on line to get a discount card.

As we finally went in, each person received their discount card and free T-shirt then started ordering. I saw fresh desserts, shelves filled with candy, and a very happy welcoming staff that lined up to greet everyone at the door. Friends were sitting down enjoying conversations in and out of the cafe as the music played. A few of them were even dancing. The orders varied from coffee to croissants, to tea, to eclairs, to soup, to sandwiches and waffles. Everything everyone had looked absolutely appetizing!

We didn’t keep the fun all to ourselves. Those who¬†walked or¬†drove¬†by got invited somehow by someone. The baristas¬†served coffee and pumpkin bars to pedestrians waiting at the bus stop and firefighters at the station. It was an amazing and memorable birthday.

Watch this short video about this fun day!

A Box of Help

Was there ever a time in your life where you just needed help?

In 2014, a brilliant ministry was birthed just to help! Help with what? Your needs if you just let them know!

The ministry just had their Christmas party last night and it was such a fun time in fellowship. They served food, raffled prizes, shared it’s 2015 acccomplishments, had an awesome dancer, special word of¬†encouragement and much more! This end of the year party made me more aware of it’s splendid accomplishments in helping others! The Helps ministry is tremendous! They have been known to help provide food to families (especially widows) in New York! During the 2015 Christmas season, families were blessed with a¬†box of help filled with food and cleaning supplies of every description! Plus the boxes were delivered to the familes! The Helps ministry has made life quite easier for Hope members. They have given out fruits, vegetables and bread randomly after many services this year. They have helped provided a way home for people when they did not have a metrocard or cab fare. The ministry has also provided and treated many ladies this year with a gift certificate to have their hair done by one of the best hairstylist in Queens. This ministry has been a great blessing to many and it’s only getting started! It is the best feeling in the world to get help when you need it.

Been there yet?

New York City ¬†is remarkable. Such a lively place filled with attractions, historical spots, good resturaunts, shops and more. I have lived here all my ¬†life but the greatest thing about this city started in 2009. One visit to HopeNYC Church is much sweeter than a trip to the midtown mega candy store. It’s a child’s dream come true during the ¬†Christmas season. The welcome ¬†you recieve through the doors is genuine and inviting. It’s not a hotel but the hospitality deserves 5 stars! The way the elders take your prayer requests makes you feel like you’ve called back up in the middle of the battle in your hardest situation. The church pours ¬†it’s heart out on the city when it feeds food to the hungry. The¬†ministries and growth groups are great places to find friends. Spouses also found eachother here too! The Big Apple is big with coffee but an outstanding place to get coffee is in the same building with HopeNYC! Right next door to the place we praise The Almighty God, Compass Cafe’ has branched out and while serving New Yorkers, it serves clean drinking water to children in foreign countries. Speaking of foreign countries, HopeNYC sends out hundreds of toys for Christmas each year! So many lives changed in and out of New York including my own! After living in this great city for all these years, nothing has changed my life like the way God changed it in HopeNYC.¬†You have not experienced the greatest thing in this city if you have not been there yet.
