School is not the only thing this week on the minds of the kids at HopeNYC. They have been busy helping victims of human trafficking! Creating over 60 candy-filled boxes! Taking charge of a breakfast menu! Supporting the ministry! Prepping for a 2018 launch event!
Kids have a blast at HopeNYC church. They
learn, pray, grow and play but also take care of their ministries. HopeKidz and Tweens help kids grow in Christ all year round in the most exciting creative ways. They’re constantly aiming to make each year better than the last. They also make new kids feel welcomed and at times make it their mission to help others across the globe.
Sending over some shoes & toiletries over the past summers.
This week, Hope Kidz created love boxes just in time for Valentine’s Day! They were brightly colored, beautifully wrapped and filled with chocolate! Hope Kidz provided the perfect presents for your loved ones and supported their ministry financially!
The Tweens ministry is exclusively for kids ages 10-12. They meet every Friday at 6pm for fellowship, worship, games, prizes, food & The Word! They also plan trips & have fun video contests!
They are launching with their first meeting tomorrow at 6pm! After a fantastic service they are serving up breakfast on Sunday at Compass: Ham and cheese sliders with tater tots! They successfully sold tickets over the week and all proceeds are going towards rescuing victims of human trafficking and providing clean drinking water to impoverished countries.
I’m just typing in amazement! Being a weekly attendee at HopeNYC, I see their enthusiasm, faith and passion in what they do! This has been a busy week but they’re going accomplish a lot this year!
A tall tasty tower of treats from Compass Café with some Sweet insanity by Lisa!
I can’t wait to see the look on my family and friends‘ faces! Compass Coffee’s dessert towers has eclairs, triple threat brownies, pumpkin bars, pecan bread pudding, macaroons and lots more from Jodi Bakes! There’s also cake pops from Pint Sized Bites!
For my dinner hosts, I’m also bringing some Sweet Insanity by Lisa cookies! The cookies were primarily for us (me and my husband) but we wanted to share so others can enjoy a treat that came from another fantastic brilliant baker at HopeNYC.
We ordered two dozen in multiple flavors: cranberry white chocolate chip (My Fav), pecan sandies, chocolate chip, coconut cloud, chocolate chip and butterfinger! I️t would take several long paragraphs more to describe every detail of the delectably amazing taste of these cookies! Grab yourself a box one day, these cookies got what it takes to satisfy you!
As you see, some of the cookies are gone from the box. They were either eaten or set aside for giving. These are going WOW the crowd 😮
I️’m not sure if I will be able to record taste reactions later on which is why I️ post now in excitement!
I’m beyond confident that they’re going to love the desserts but after a good thanksgiving meal!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Be sure to go make it to the parade! It’s coming up on December 3rd at 5pm. Come see spectacularly beautiful floats, Christmas characters, thousands of lights and Queens’ biggest Christmas tree lighting to end the night! Sips of Hope celebrates a special birthday! Two years of making a way of freedom for precious girls enslaved by human trafficking! Two years of providing clean drinking water to quench the thirst in several countries! Two years of serving good quality coffee and pastries to New Yorkers and providing a tranquil area in a busy city.
Today Compass Café celebrated the BIG 2 by baking over 200 cupcakes!
Giving 200 presents in sealed envelopes!
Putting out the balloons
What made today even special was that we got to MEET THE FOUNDER of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace! Today, we got to hear about her incredible story of how it started and the vision she received from God.
I’m excited to come back to Compass this week and bring back my envelope! Each envelope has a gift. It can be a macchiato or an Amazon Firestick. A $100 Compass gift card or Thanksgiving dessert platter! Even the thought of a moyen hot chocolate or free cookie excites me! I didn’t open my gift yet but I’ll keep you posted when I find out this week!
This weekend, you are invited to one of the greatest birthday celebrations in New York! This Sunday is not going to be ordinary. Compass Coffee turns two years old and this birthday has been incredibly and carefully planned.
Compass is a Missions coffee shop that was created to help people in other countries get clean drinking water and rescue girls out of human trafficking through its partnership with The Zion project!
We will hear from the actual founder of the Zion Project: Pastor Deven Wallace. We will see her live and she will be preaching THIS Sunday at 10:30am at HopeNYC. Right after service, Compass will actually be giving you presents 🎁 as we celebrate this birthday! There will ALSO be special surprises for people who purchase a cup of coffee, dessert or item that day!
The fact that Pastor Deven will be at HopeNYC on Compass’ Birthday is not a coincidence or luck but this was indeed a divine appointment set up by God. In fact, Compass is a divine idea founded to help others and it will continue it’s mission even stronger as it steps into it’s second year! Read more about the MISSION here

The party isn’t over! The celebration of freedom still continues with patriotic colors and a cake to cut. The Freedom Cake is back at Compass! Fans had happily reunited with the cake this weekend. Just like last year, it’s going fast! Many are in love with the cake because of it’s eye-catching trio of colors on the surface and in the slices. WE are also fond of the delicious fresh homemade vanilla taste. You may find yourself back at the job today but you can continue celebrating with a satisfying slice! It tastes like a celebration any day after July 4th🎉
Sitting at here at Compass looking to see what’s new! I saw fresh baked Cheese Danishes by Jodi Bakes and the first ever COOKIE CAKE 🍪 at Compass. I also tried the new creation! Creme Brûlée Cheesecake!
A very pretty and petite cheesecake with a torched golden surface topped with cream and a fresh raspberry. All sitting on top of a tasty crispy brown crust. The creamy, fruity, crust flavors made such a complete and outstanding combo. It was so delicious and made a memorable impression on my taste buds. It made people want more. It was nothing ordinary. In fact, it didn’t taste like anything in New York but all the way in Europe as if I were sitting at a Paris Café.
Compass is on a mission to help provide clean drinking water to impoverished countries 💦 and help victims of human trafficking! Every cup of coffee ☕️ Cake 🍰 Thing 🎁 you purchase goes towards the mission and helps make the world better 🌎
I’ve tried this tremendous trio of hazelnut, vanilla and maplein one sweet single slice of this cake! These layers make such a creative colorful combo that will cradle your tastebuds in hugs and kisses! Sweet treat to give to your loved one or ideal for indulging! It’s made with an original homemade recipe you can taste! Normally I don’t go for sweet but you can feel the love that went into this.
Compass Coffee had just celebrated it’s first birthday! The streets were lined with excited party guests ready for the celebration. I could tell it was going to be huge! All of the party guests received gifts for this birthday! Free coffee, birthday buttons, T-shirts and special elegant cookies made specifically for the occasion by House of Fray!
There were also things that added to excitement such as a live DJ, balloons, my raffle ticket # possibly being called, seeing what the new Jodi Bakes thanksgiving dessert tray looks like and being one of the first 50 people on line to get a discount card.
As we finally went in, each person received their discount card and free T-shirt then started ordering. I saw fresh desserts, shelves filled with candy, and a very happy welcoming staff that lined up to greet everyone at the door. Friends were sitting down enjoying conversations in and out of the cafe as the music played. A few of them were even dancing. The orders varied from coffee to croissants, to tea, to eclairs, to soup, to sandwiches and waffles. Everything everyone had looked absolutely appetizing!
We didn’t keep the fun all to ourselves. Those who walked or drove by got invited somehow by someone. The baristas served coffee and pumpkin bars to pedestrians waiting at the bus stop and firefighters at the station. It was an amazing and memorable birthday.
