Find a Good Father

“There are good fathers at Hope! ”

I remember sitting down hearing that yesterday at HopeNYC’s Father’s Day service and I agree! But I must mention that they learned from the best ūüĎÜūüŹĹ In fact all of us do! At HopeNYC, your problem is our problem and your victories and achievements¬†is our celebration! Over the years of attending, I see that the men of God here look out for their church family. Always aiming to encourage, give, teach and intercede in prayer for other sons and daughters. Yesterday, many celebrated their fathers, relatives and father figures and highly exalted their Heavenly Father. The one responsible for all good fathers. There were gifts, testimonies, dances, and more! It was such a good time! Many Hope Kidz spoke out in a video how they felt about their dads. WARNING ‚ö†ÔłŹ some are cute and some are funny!

Coffee, Cookie, Challenge!

My recent Instagram Post: Reading the book of Ephesians ūüíĽ#Read #Bible #Ephesians #Cookie #Coffee #Outside #Summer #Compass

Last night many accepted the challenge! I am sitting right outside of Compass Cafe starting it off reading on the mac with some coffee & munching on a Jodi Bake cookie! For the next two Hope Day services: We will be digging deep into the book of Ephesians. I am so excited. Excited to fall in love more with Christ and find fresh new things in these love letters written by Paul ūüĖä Now the challenge: Read the entire book of Ephesians every day for three weeks with a pencil!  Why? God is about to speak!

Need to fall back in love with Christ? ‚̧ԳŹ Are you a new believer or know a new believer? The book of Ephesians is a great place to open the Bible & get started! This new series is a great time to make your first visit at HopeNYC Church! Summer at Hope is starting & it’s usually so suntastically awesome. So much that I think we end up having much more fun than vacation goers ‚úąÔłŹ

Hope day Wednesday services: 7 PM

Tomorrow right outside in front of our building: HOMESTRETCH! See dozens of beautiful amazing testimonies get encouraged like never before!

Three Layers of Love

Do you love this cake or can it love you?

I’ve tried this tremendous trio of hazelnut, vanilla and maple in one sweet single slice of this cake! These layers make such a creative colorful combo that will cradle your tastebuds in hugs and kisses! Sweet treat to give to your loved one or ideal for indulging! It’s made with an original homemade recipe you can taste! Normally I don’t go for sweet but you can feel the love that went into this.

The XOXO cake is found only at Compass Cafe.

An update on HopeNYC

HopeNYC, How has it been? These past couple of weeks has been so far some of the most amazing ever! Just being filled up with the word on Wenesdays. Being full of fire & enery with the teens on Friday. Seeing the colors of dancers & the finely dressed people worshipping on a Sunday. I am just so glad to be apart of this church & know the friends¬†I met there. Sometimes living life isn’t easy ….¬†even being a christian & striving to follow our perfect Lord & savior¬†gets real challeging at times too but going to HopeNYC to grow, worship, learn, pray, work, praise, testify love, fellowship… It really lightens the LOAD & helps me more to trust God to remove it, break me through it & make it all better. Many have testified that they have needed hope & they found it at HopeNYC. If any of you bloggers¬†get to visit New York City, I urge you to visit at least one services. I visited the Famous Statue of Liberty, Toys R us & been to Time Square so many times but they all can’t compare to ONE visit at HopeNYC Church. You won’t be a stranger at all because you will surely feel at home.

Yesterday

Growth Groups (Now Hope Groups)

There’s¬†a famous saying¬†we use often at HopeNYC!

“The day you stop learning¬†is the day you stop growing.”¬†

As I mentioned in my recent post The Body,  Growth Groups has started! There are many cool growth groups here ranging from from Chinese cooking to bowling,  cosmetology, hairstyling,  leadership, baking, music, bible groups & much much more!

Many of these groups¬†were held today in different parts of the church building. I was excited to enter church on a bright Saturday morning. I loved the mood of the place. People interacting, drinking coffee, laying out¬†their pens with lovely stationary items ready for note taking. I walked into my growth group today & saw a table of goodies. Hot chocolate, bagels, a variety of donuts, blueberry muffins, yummy pastries, and different cream cheese spreads. I was in a bible class and it was so much¬†fun. There were pictures, prizes, amazing history, laughs, and very interesting discussions. The food could not satisfy my hunger for more wisdom from¬†this teaching. I am already excited for next Saturday’s class. As it ended, I left my seat and wandered around. Through a big clear window on the same floor, I glanced over at¬†the cosmetology class. I saw two girls each wearing a fresh moist green mask over their faces. It looked like so much fun & the girls got a free facial.¬†I walked past another room¬†and heard all the voices behind the door singing as a choir while a guitar strummed the chords of their song. (It was not a music class, it was actually a group called True¬†Worship) ¬†On the way out, I saw my friend on his laptop finalizing¬†material to teach his class. Next to him sat a large bag filled with stacked boxes of Popeye’s fried chicken for the group’s lunch (They’re so lucky) I caught a bus then rode the train home. For the next two hours¬†of traveling (Yes I travel that far) I kept my head buried into a novel¬†I had gotten from my group. Not only I had received¬†an excitement to learn but an excitement to grow.¬†

They meet again!

This past Valentines day,The NBA teamed up with HopeNYC to distribute food, children’s coats & other goodies¬†to the community!¬†Retired Basketball player Kenny Smith¬†¬†helped raised $1 million for Feed the children & didn’t stop there! He gave a brand new car to one very lucky¬†volunteer. There was definitely love in the air & it was the love of Jesus Christ to the families. The 140 HopeNYC volunteers worked all day putting 2,400 care packages in the hands & showing the love of¬†Jesus in¬†this wonderful outreach. Each¬†family¬†left the church happily with hands & carts filled heavily with boxes & bags! One blessed person opened one of their¬†boxes & was surprised with a dress, jewelry,¬†make up, colon,¬†shoes & other products by Avon. As HopeNYC’s chief operating officer said “It is our heart to give back to this community.”

This was¬†Queen’s Largest outreach! Check it out on TNT News!¬†Click to see the short video

Brooklyn Breakthrough

HopeNYC church has a heart for helping. There is no language or location barrier, I’ve seen Hopers visit other boroughs & fly across the world! A couple of weeks ago, HopeNYC helped Harlem for Thanksgiving but did not stop there!¬†HopeNYC visited a homeless shelter¬†in Brooklyn last week to not just prepare a Thanksgiving meal but a Thanksgiving Feast! Hope served dozens of turkeys, chicken, endless slices of baked ham, full trays of mashed potatoes, yummy mac & cheese, various desserts & so much more! Hope did not only provide a¬†freshly prepared lunch but they also gave out groceries for Thanksgiving day! Hearts were touched, Kids enjoyed picking out their favorite pies & families were blessed. I saw burdens being lifted as the church made life easier for these hard working parents. The staff who cooked & served this feast were not only adults. Children, teenagers, 20 somethings, also worked hard to prepare a dish & show up to serve! HopeNYC is really one of the few places in New York where you would see a young one so interested & selflessly working hard to help someone else. The church as whole desire to follow Jesus & be His hands & feet. That is our heart!

So many people were blessed with food, groceries, & winter coats!

Hey You! Read This! Hey You! Read This! Hey You! Read This! Hey You! Read This! Hey You! Read This!

Lets bring a bigger breakthrough to this world! I encourage you to volunteer at your local church or organization just to help others!

Especially

  • ¬†On Major Holidays
  • If you are in charge of a group, club or ministry! Anyone can do this!

Not in charge?

  • ¬†That is Ok! If you have the heart you can start!
  • ¬†Formulate a plan with your friends! ¬†Where to go, who to call, what to give away or do. There are elderly homes, homeless shelters, hospitals… see¬†what’s in your city.
  • If you are currently in school or college you can find out if they are already hosting a mission. If not then you can start it! I’ve seen people start a simple harry potter club…. Be the one to make a real difference! Start a club or a day event to help others!
  • Be brave ( I’m shy to approach people but this is a small price to pay to change someone’s world.)

Vision

  • With your own eye, who do you see suffer?
  • What would make that person feel better?
  • Would it be a bag of groceries? toys? a holiday feast? ¬†prayer? a coat? a free manicure? Christmas carols?….
  • Without a vision, You would not know where to go & where to steer your group. Think about who can you help?

Make a decision to help your world! ¬†Being involved & changing someone’s life is so fantastic but the true reason for serving others will always be that it is¬†God’s purpose for us.

Take a good look at your hands, they are made to work! ūüôā

Hope hits Harlem

Today, HopeNYC helped hundreds in Harlem by distributing boxes upon boxes of Thanksgiving foods, household items, & Avon Products. The major organizations that provided these items were Feed The Children & Avon. The boxes came in trucks. HopeNYC Church teamed with Harlem Fellowship Church & made a great difference to families the community. The people were blessed as they happily rolled their carts knowing it was Jesus. HopeNYC did not only give away the groceries but they helped carry it to the cars. The occasion was so immense that NY1 & other News reporters stopped by to interview. Another major help was NBA Knicks player Carmelo Anthony, who made his appearance & gave to families. This event took place in The Manhattan Center of Science & Mathematics High School. (I went to school here btw)

Harlem was indeed blessed & they all anticipate an Awesome Thanksgiving!
