I was rushing out of the house getting ready for a fantastic Sunday service at HopeNYC. Time was ticking & there was still quite a few things to do in the short remaining 15 minutes I had left. I definitely couldn’t get it all done if making breakfast was one of them.
Did I skip breakfast just to get to church in time?
No! Because the church had the breakfast!
The Compass Café part of the building to be exact! They were serving up an excellent Trini breakfast that rescued my appetite! It tasted great & I was surely satisfied. Only a simple $5 gets you the breakfast and goes back into Compass’ mission: to provide clean drinking water to impoverished countries and help rescue victims of human trafficking. My breakfast this morning went towards helping someone and there’s nothing more filling than that.
In the weeks to come they will be serving all kinds of breakfasts on Sunday morning inspired by different places. (I personally can’t wait for Tex Mex and southern breakfast)
Today’s breakfast was two bakes, fried aloo ( potato) and corn beef.
New Yorkers are warming up as temperatures are dropping! Ridding their closets of rompers and casting aside cold shoulder tops to make room for tunics and snug sweaters!
Coffee, hot chocolate and teas are ideal ways to warm up this season! Compass Cafe’ has all those things including the #1 solution: SOUP!
Soups at Compass are ultra-delicious, hearty, made from scratch and served in adorable crock bowls on a knitted coaster (If you plan to stay)
Sadly, the soups are only here for a limited time but what’s exciting is that there is a different one every day served with bread on the side made from scratch by Jodi Bakes! One day it can be loaded baked potato soup served with buttermilk bread or a chicken taco soup with cornbread. There’s other exiting soups like pinto beans with smoke turkey, pasta fagoili, ham and potato chowder and more! If you have $5 in your pocket and want to warm up quickly with something satisfying and balanced, all you have you to do is come into Compass to find out: What’s the soup of the day?
Compass Cafe is located on 142-82 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica NY 11436

Sitting at here at Compass looking to see what’s new! I saw fresh baked Cheese Danishes by Jodi Bakes and the first ever COOKIE CAKE 🍪 at Compass. I also tried the new creation! Creme Brûlée Cheesecake!
A very pretty and petite cheesecake with a torched golden surface topped with cream and a fresh raspberry. All sitting on top of a tasty crispy brown crust. The creamy, fruity, crust flavors made such a complete and outstanding combo. It was so delicious and made a memorable impression on my taste buds. It made people want more. It was nothing ordinary. In fact, it didn’t taste like anything in New York but all the way in Europe as if I were sitting at a Paris Café.
Compass is on a mission to help provide clean drinking water to impoverished countries 💦 and help victims of human trafficking! Every cup of coffee ☕️ Cake 🍰 Thing 🎁 you purchase goes towards the mission and helps make the world better 🌎
I’ve tried this tremendous trio of hazelnut, vanilla and maplein one sweet single slice of this cake! These layers make such a creative colorful combo that will cradle your tastebuds in hugs and kisses! Sweet treat to give to your loved one or ideal for indulging! It’s made with an original homemade recipe you can taste! Normally I don’t go for sweet but you can feel the love that went into this.

The Crème Brûlée Cupcake!
It has a nice golden brown color and it’s topped with a circle of sweet creamy yellow custard. Toasted on top with a torch, the surface and edges of the cake are nice and crispy. I discovered that the custard was actually a filling and not just a topping!
In fact, quite a few cupcakes were filled inside. S’mores! Dulce the Leche! Raspberry! These cupcakes were made with an original, unique and brilliant recipe by Jodi Bakes.

I just tried Compass Cafe’s NEWEST pumpkin swirl waffle! You can enjoy this for breakfast or anytime of the day! It’s loaded with pumpkin flavor and feels just like fall! It’s not sweet at all but you can achieve your desired sweetness by adding the amount of syrup or whipped cream that pleases you.
This will be nice in the morning with a pumpkin spice latte on the side.
Because of the calm atmosphere, pumpkin spice scent and appearance of the Compass cafe’ you will feel that restful rustic autumn atmosphere. You can have family time here where you can sit down share a meal and some sweets with loved ones. You can have meetings, tutor a child, complete homework of any kind, plug in your laptop …the list goes on!
This past Valentines day,The NBA teamed up with HopeNYC to distribute food, children’s coats & other goodies to the community! Retired Basketball player Kenny Smith helped raised $1 million for Feed the children & didn’t stop there! He gave a brand new car to one very lucky volunteer. There was definitely love in the air & it was the love of Jesus Christ to the families. The 140 HopeNYC volunteers worked all day putting 2,400 care packages in the hands & showing the love of Jesus in this wonderful outreach. Each family left the church happily with hands & carts filled heavily with boxes & bags! One blessed person opened one of their boxes & was surprised with a dress, jewelry, make up, colon, shoes & other products by Avon. As HopeNYC’s chief operating officer said “It is our heart to give back to this community.”
